The craze has begun! It is baseball season again and with three boys in the house, at times we feel like we eat, sleep, and live baseball. This is okay by me as I have been a baseball fanatic every since I was in diapers. The only thing is i am not so sure that my wife is as thrilled as I am. Normally she doesn’t even go to the boys games with me and if she does she usually brings along a book to read. Baseball is just not her thing. She really surprised me last week. I was getting ready to take the boys to the field for their games on a Wednesday night when suddenly, the phone rang. It was my mother, her precious dog had slipped out of the fence and she had been looking for him all day. She was hysterical as this dog had been her only companion since my father had died. I hesitantly checked my watch and saw that I had fifteen minutes to get to the first game. As much as I didn’t want to miss anything I told my mother that I would be right over. I hated to do it but I had to let my wife know that she would have to take the boys that night. She agreed without enthusiasm. She kissed me as I set the ADT New York security alarm and headed out. I watched her walk with the boys to the van with her favorite book in hand and I just shook my head.

As I headed to my mother’s, to my surprise I came upon her little dog happily running down the drive to greet me. My mother just stood at the front door smiling. She apologized and I was on my way to the game.

I hoped that I had not missed anything. When I arrived the first thing that I saw was a beautiful woman running around in the stands like one of those crazy sports fans. To my surprise, it was my wife. As I approached and she saw me. She calmly set back down and then looked at me and smiled. She said,”What? You were not here! Somebody had to do it!” She never ceases to amaze me.
